Once Guru Nanak Dev accompanied his disciples to Haridwar. There, he saw a pandit directing his yasman to make more water offerings of the sun. Seeing this, he immediately landed in the water. They began to offer water in the opposite direction from the sun. The pundit got angry by watching this. He said, "Water does not make a offering there, the sun and the father gets salvation." By listening to this, Guru Nanak began to offer water in the opposite direction from the sun. Once again, Guru Nanak questioned, "Pandit Ji, how far will this father be from here?" Then Pandit spoke, maybe thousands of kilometres away. Then Guru Nanak said, "If the water can be burnt here by offering water on the banks of the Ganges, then, on my farm in my village, this water can be reached. I am offering water in this direction for the purpose of watering my fields. Yasman and Pandit laughed at Guru Nanak's point, and he understood the meaning of his point.
